Monica Cavarino has a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and Master of Science in Information Technology and is a certified Instructional Designer. She graduated from Western Oregon University with honors where her educational focus was in drawing, painting, printmaking and graphic design. She has taught extensive drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, jewelry design and production and graphic design courses in secondary education. Many of her former students are very successful in Visual Art professions. In addition, Cavarino is an award winning artist that has exhibited her work in galleries throughout the west coast.
Cavarino believes that proficient Visual Literacy skills are essential for the 21st century digital learners. She uses a content rich discipline-based approach to teaching art education—which includes teaching about art history, art aesthetics, art criticism and studio art.
